Hello and Happy Labor Day!  I hope many of you are off today and are out enjoying the day with such Labor Day activities as going to the beach and using that old BBQ.  Some people may see this as the “end of summer” I myself am pretty excited. I love the time right before fall starts (or as fall like as it gets in San Diego).  I’ve always been a huge fan of October-December in particular, so I’m geared up and ready for it.  I can’t wait to get pumpkins and feel that fall feeling when the air just feels different.

This blog post is a little something different.  This is Kelcie and this shoot was for her Senior High School photos.  Can I just saw how beautiful is she?! I mean really!  I’m so jealous of her hair too; I can only wish that 1. My hair could get that long and 2. Have such beautiful color, and wave.  We had a blast doing this shoot her parents where there and they were lovely. Her dad even told me after we finished shooting, that watching the shoot made her mom cry (oh I hope I did not just embarrass Mrs. Kopperud).  At first I didn’t know if I should feel bad or look at like a good thing.  I did tell her though if this made you cry then what are the pictures themselves gonna do?? 🙂  But I think it is a good thing, and I mentioned it because I thought it was very sweet. I know my mom would have done the same thing!  If I give my mom a birthday card that just says “I appreciate you” she starts crying.

Anyways I digress, Kelcie was a great girl we talked about the boys and what kids in High School do these days.   I did try to be hip and relatable when talking to her about it.  I at least acted like I knew what I was talking about (so as to not seem so outta touch of course). Not sure if I accomplished that though…

…enjoy!

I put together a slideshow of the photos I did of Brinton because I could not narrow the photos down enough. Turns out I never published it, and I was under the impression that I had.  In any case here is the slideshow.  And don’t judge the music it was the best royalty free music I could find maybe just put something good on your iTunes and view it?  Might I suggest The Postal Service cover of Phil Collins “Against All Odds”  I forgot I had this song until I found it on my old iPod, it’s become my newest addiction.

I really just advertised all over for Mac didn’t I?

Enjoy 😉

  • The Little Prince - Kelly is an amazing phtographer. Would reccommend to all lucky enough to be in the vicinity of such artisctic and creative work.

This photo session was literally years in the making.  Betsy, Isaac and their children were guests at a wedding I did a few years back.  She contacted me shortly after the wedding to do a shoot but life came up and she had to put it off.  Well now here is the result of the the many waited years.  And could I just take a moment to say how cute they all are! I mean really Betsy is adorable Isaac is cute and their kids! Forget it they are all so cute.  And not only that, each of their children shook my hand when I got to the location….I mean that’s not something you usually see.  Needless to say I was very impressed.
We went to the Orange County Fair per Betsy’s suggestion (she had pies in the pie competition, and she won 1st place in her category BTW) I loved that she was into doing something that is not usually considered a “normal” location for a family photo session.  I thought it was a very unique choice. And her one request: A lot of Color and the fair defiantly provided that.
I know later Betsy was worried that it was too crowded and perhaps was a bad idea afterall.  I assured her that was not the case that there would be great images and a very cool location.
I hope after seeing these she agrees!

They’re so cute they took it upon themselves to do the wink.  Lily missed the memo it seems;however, she still looks beautiful, plus I think it works.

  • Betsy - Wow, Kelly, you turned something chaotic into something perfect! I love my kids! The skee ball photo is hilarious – that old guy was going to kick our butts! Ha! Thanks for being up for this! By the way, Lily swears up and down that she actually did wink – the camera just missed it. Yeah, right. ;P
