Today my lovely past bride and groom, Lauren and Chuck had their wedding featured on Ceremony’s blog in the Real Wedding section! I could not be any happier to have their wedding featured on such a great site! I hope that their wedding will give inspiration to all those birdes as well as grooms out there who are in the midsts of creating their own special wedding day!

Check out the feature HERE!

Lauren came to me through some mutual friends, and it almost didn’t come to be that I was going to shoot her wedding.  Her date seems to be very popular and there was another bride interested in the date.  After all was said and done everything was finalized for me to shoot Lauren and Chuck’s wedding in Los Angeles at the beautiful Marvimon, and I couldn’t be more excited!

For their shoot we chose two great locations in La Jolla, the first was this amazing outdoor nature setting, it was the kinda setting that I always love to shoot at.  Followed by one of my all time favorite spots The Scripps Institute of Oceanography.  Lauren and Chuck were my kinda clients!  They made me feel like I could ask them to try out any idea I had, and that they would be game for it.  Having that type of dynamic at a shoot always allows for more creative and fun shots!

Thanks to you both for coming down from LA for the shoot!  And I look forward to your wedding in July!

This shoot was a rare situation; we actually ended up doing their engagement photos the day before their wedding.  Josh and Katie were not sure if they wanted to do the engagement photos, but I suggested we try to get a session in so that it would get them comfortable with being in front of the camera before their wedding.  Well it seemed like the weather was against us because I believe we had to reschedule twice because of weather!  However, this last Saturday we got to take the photos and I’m glad we got the shoot in before the wedding!

I wanted to try out some new lighting techniques I had been studying up on, so I incorporated that into some of the shots here.  I definitely liked the results so I think I’m gonna have to do more of it in future shoots.

Katie and I go waaaaaay back, and I just met her fiancĂ© Josh about a month ago.  When I first met him I knew I would like him, and I knew that they were so perfect for each other!  They both just click together and seem to understand the other one, it’s the kinda of relationship we all hope to have ourselves.  Oh and might I mention these two were high school sweethearts way back when.  They ended up going their separate ways back in 2003, and re-connected at Katie’s sister and Josh’s brothers wedding a few years back.  That night they reconnected and picked up where they left off, I think that means it was meant to be.  And yup that means their already a bit related through their sibling weddings, but I think that is just adds to their story!

For the shoot we went to Fortuna Mountain, a place Bryan and I enjoy hiking and one I would recommend if you’re into hiking!

This is sort of a sequel to a recent post I did featuring a cute salon in Los Angeles called Román Salon.  After I posted the photos I did of the salon, just for fun when I was getting my hair done last, Jen who manages the salon contacted me to say she would love if I came up there and did some photos of the stylists as well as overall shots of the salon.  I thought that it sounded like it would be a fun time and a great excuse to go up to LA, and that’s just what I did over the weekend.

When I got there I met the lovely Jen, and she is AWESOME! So Jen if you see this you’re awesome.  She just had such a great vibe and was genuinely nice and helpful and I just dug her personality.  As her and I walked though the salon to head upstairs to start the shoot, I said hello to my friend/lovely past bride Sherri who randomly enough was doing hair for a friend of my sisters…what are the odds?!

The shoot went so well, they have the kindest people working at there, here is their site if you’re looking to get some fabulous hair did RománSalon.  The shoot went a little longer than expected but I really liked just hanging out at there so I didn’t mind at all, OH! I got coffee and cookies! Which is one of the things I look forward too when going and getting my hair done there.  And it was three cups of coffee to be precise; I don’t know what they do but it’s so good! And I’m not the biggest coffee drinker to start… so there’s suntin special happening there.

After the shoot I went to a little bar/restaurant across the street to eat before heading back to SD, and I came to the conclusion that I am so not LA cool at all.  I think even if I tried to be I would fall short of the coolness that exists there.  So I guess for now I’ll stick to the part nerdy, part quirky role that fits me better.  But I still have a soft spot for you LA even though I would never be a member of the cool kid club…but I think I’ll be ok.

Enjoy the shots of this cute salon!
